at this hour
in this light
i stop asking myself if i like it here
if the architecture pleases me
and settle into the freedom of early even ing
a world between two spaces
that i drink in slowly and deliberately
back sat tight in a black london cab
i have nowhere to be but here
for i am the shore that greets times gentle, rolling waves
i am the field, the child playing in the field,
the setting sun in a clear sky and her mother calling to sup.
in this endless samsara of cities, borders crossed,
oceans traversed and still cities,
i carry the countryside in my heart.
